Who it is for
For anyone who wants lighter hair: a few strands around the face, a balayage with a soft blend, or full blonde. And for blondes whose tone or regrowth needs refreshing.
Your starting colour is not an obstacle, but it sets the route. Natural light brown hair and hair that has been coloured dark for years need different plans.
How it works
-
Consultation and a look at your hair
We look at your hair in good light: the natural colour, old colour in the lengths, the condition of the ends. We ask what has been done to it over the last year or two. Show us photographs of what you have in mind.

Choosing the technique
Highlights give evenly lighter hair from the root. Balayage is painted freehand and gives a soft blend that grows out gracefully. Full lightening changes all of the hair. The techniques are often combined.
-
Lightening
The lightener lifts pigment out of the hair and is left to work for a set time, checked throughout. We do not rush this step: the health of your hair sets the pace.

Washing and toning
After rinsing comes the toner. Lightened hair is yellowish on its own; the toner gives it the shade you asked for: cool, beige or golden.
-
Care and styling
A treatment closes the hair after the chemical process. Then drying and styling, so you see the colour the way you will wear it.
-
A plan for what comes next
Before you leave we agree what follows: when to refresh the toner, when to come for regrowth and, if the blonde you want needs another visit, when that would be.
Before your appointment
- Come with dry hair, the way you normally wear it. It does not need to be freshly washed.
- Bring one or two photographs of a blonde you like. And one of a blonde you do not like, if you have it.
- Think back over what has been done to your hair: salon colour, colour at home, henna, a perm, keratin.
- Set aside a good part of the day and bring something to read.

Afterwards, at home
A gentle shampoo
A shampoo for coloured or lightened hair cleans more gently and keeps the tone longer.
A mask, regularly
Lightened hair loses moisture more easily and needs more care than before.
Heat protection
Before the dryer, straightener or curling iron, every time. Heat dries the hair and shifts the tone.
Toner fades
A little with every wash. That is expected; it is refreshed in the studio.
How often
How often you come depends on the technique. Highlights taken to the root show regrowth sooner, so they are refreshed more often. Balayage grows out more softly and can go longer between visits.
Between the bigger appointments, the toner can be refreshed in a shorter visit. We agree the rhythm that suits your hair at the end of each appointment.
Good to know
From dark to very light often takes more than one day.
Dark or previously coloured hair often reaches the blonde you want over several visits, because the health of the hair sets the pace. In between, you wear an in-between shade.
Home colour and henna change what is possible.
Pigment from home colour and henna behaves differently from salon colour. It is not an obstacle, but we need to know in advance. Mention it on the call.
A photograph is a starting point, not a promise.
The same shade looks different on different hair and against different skin. At the consultation we tell you what is realistic for your hair, and in what order.
In the studio we work with Balmain Couleurs Couture colour.
